1. What time can I drop my child off in the morning?
Children can be dropped off at TLC for the 2019-2020 school year between 8:30-9:00 am in the morning, Monday through Friday.
2. What time does my child need to be picked up?
Children need to be picked up from TLC by 2:30 PM daily.
3. What happens if I’m running late one day?
If you are going to be unavoidably delayed, please call the main number 718- 290-2700 and let a member of the TLC staff know. This information will help your child from becoming concerned or anxious when you do not arrive at the expected time. Late pick up charges may apply.
4. How will I know if TLC is closed due to bad weather or an emergency?
When TLC is closed, we will notify all parents through the SchoolMessenger notification system. The information will also be posted to our website.
5. What happens if there’s an emergency during the day? How will I be notified?
In the event of an emergency, the health and well-being of your child is our top priority. In the unlikely event that we need to evacuate the facility, we will go to P.S. 10. All parents will be notified via SchoolMessenger and/or the emergency phone numbers they have provided to us. Please make sure that we are provided with the correct emergency contact information at all times.
6. Are meals and snacks provided for my child?
TLC is part of the NYS CACFP ( Child and Adult Care Food Program) through the Department of Health. Each family is required at admission time to complete a required form with financial information . This is required so TLC will be reimbursed partially for the costs. All children must participate in this program.
An important part of learning and promoting health of our children each day is providing a well balanced lunch and snack at TLC each day during our 10 month school program. Weekly menus will be provided to families. We work with a vendor and we will meet your child’s needs for a gluten free or vegetarian meal. We provides nut free snacks for students. Our vendor must meet the requirements set by NYS nutritionist at CACFP ensuring that each child is receiving the daily the proper nutrition.
7. My child has severe food allergies. How can I be sure they’re safe?
Food allergies are extremely serious. We work closely with parents to understand what’s safe and unsafe for their child, and maintain a nut-free environment. Young children often do not understand what it means to have a food allergy. We’ll work with you to help you educate your child on this issue so they can stay safe.
8. My child is potty trained, but occasionally has accidents. What happens in that situation?
Accidents do happen. The TLC team is trained and prepared to deal with this issue professionally and with compassion. All children should have a spare set of clothes to be kept at TLC in case of accident. The soiled clothes will be sent home with the child at the end of the day.
9. Who can pick my child up from TLC?
For the safety and protection of your child, we will only allow them to leave the building with the people you have designated as acceptable on your child’s TLC paperwork. We will ask these people for identification, to confirm they are who they say they are.
In the case of extreme emergency, please email a TLC administrator with the full name of the individual you designate to pick up your child. We will not release your child to anyone without your written authorization.
10. Does TLC go on field trips?
TLC classes will occasionally go on field trips in or around the neighborhood. All parents will receive notice of these trips well in advance, and are invited to accompany us if your schedules allow.
